A fantastic morning is when I spend time arting in my studio with a cup of coffee and an open mind.
A shot of my work table from my instagram feed last week.
Every week I have a video tutorial art lesson from various artists via Life Book 2014. Week 10 Tamara Laporte shared a ‘paint over collage’ technique where we painted over magazines photos of people.
Starting off with a collage of colors, music, an arm and a face torn from (mostly anthropologie) catalogs, I used water soluble crayons, pencils, pastels, and acrylic paints to transform it into my own artwork. I don’t have a whole lot of experience painting faces and found this exercise to be helpful.
Somewhere about three quarters of the way through the lesson I found myself dancing to the beat of my own drummer and began adding more legs and arms, in an attempt to mimic some personal feelings that began to surface. Don’t we all feel this way sometimes?
