DIY Yoda Hat
So my son wants to be Yoda for Halloween. Great! I'll order a cute Yoda hat off Etsy and dye his old karate uniform tan. Well..... turns out I thought my husband ordered the hat and he thought I ordered it. And the karate uniform? Well it is lacking in the hood department and apparently this is vital.

Simple Owl Costume Tutorial - Happy Owloween!
The following is a tutorial for an owl costume. It is fairly simple and easy to put together. Perhaps if I was able to work on it for more then 15-30 minutes at a time, it wouldn't have felt like it took for-EVA!. It's definitely not as fast as the similar Bat Costume. But I finally did get it finished and it is adorable! Who could resist a three year old asking to be an Owl for "Owloween"?

Easy Bat Costume
Check out this easy bat costume I made for my son! He wore it two years in a row for Halloween, and I see someone in my house sportin' it a couple times a month on a regular basis. It's held up very well to lots of wear and tear and was so quick and easy!

Glazing the Fireplace
I updated my fireplace with green paint and brown glaze. I've used a glazing technique before with paint and/or stain on my shutter wall, my wall candle holder, a metal lamp and various other projects. However this time I used a glazing medium.

Up Cycling Lights
Remember my lamp I posted on Facebook?
I was inspired by Katie Bower's post about her Goodwill Light Makeover. I finished taping it, and it is sitting on my side yard just waiting for me to bring it in and de-tape it. Yes I will get to that soon Dan and I'll try not to start anymore projects before I finish. Maybe.
Anyhow it's kind of small for my entry but I would still like to use it to replace my current chandelier which I hope to also up cycle and use for my daughter's room. I wasn't sure about what to do with the lamp shades but today I found a fantastic and SIMPLE tutorial on painting lampshades. A short answer? YES, it CAN be done! Check out Shannon at This Thrifty House.

Good Times at the Goodwill
My mom and dad drove up to visit with me this week while my husband is working in L.A. I'm so blessed to have such loving parents! My mom and I had a blast at the Goodwill, spending over two hours perusing the store. Although I believe half of that time was spent in the check out since of course we picked the line with the cashier in training. Can I paleeze share with you all my amazing goodies I found?
